Beverly Hills Lady Normans Redeem Last Year’s Heartbreaker with 12–0 Shutout Win Over Hawthorne
This past week, the Beverly Hills High School Lady Normans flag football team took the field against the Hawthorne High School Lady Cougars in a long-anticipated rematch. The matchup marked the first meeting between the two squads since last season’s heartbreaking 15–14 loss during Beverly Hills’ inaugural homecoming game — a result that had lingered in the minds of many returning players.
Determined to reverse that outcome, the Lady Normans entered Hawthorne’s home turf with a focused and fiery mindset. “Prevent the other team from scoring, and let our offense do what they do,” said defensive cornerback, Maliah J., summarizing the team’s disciplined approach.
From kickoff, Beverly Hills’ defense set the tone with a suffocating performance. Their energy and
coordination on the field were evident, as they repeatedly broke up plays and stalled the Cougars’ offensive drives. Sophomore standout Evelyn K. anchored the defense with a commanding performance, pulling flags and disrupting passes throughout the game.
The defensive intensity paid off in big ways — senior Makinzi and freshman Fummi each recorded crucial interceptions Those turnovers not only shut down and deflated Hawthorne’s momentum but also electrified the Beverly Hills sidelines.
On offense, freshman quarterback Ella H. displayed poise beyond her years, connecting for offensive yardage that turned into touchdowns that solidified the Normans’ 12–0 victory. The team’s execution on both sides of the ball reflected a clear improvement and a commitment to discipline that coaches and players had emphasized since last year’s narrow defeat.
By the final whistle, the scoreboard told the story: Beverly Hills 12, Hawthorne 0 — a statement win that served as both redemption and motivation for the remainder of the season.

As the Lady Normans celebrated on the field, cheers echoed from teammates and supporters alike, proud of the team’s growth and resilience. For Beverly Hills, this shutout victory wasn’t just about avenging a past loss — it was about proving how far they’ve come.
Go Lady Normans!
